SSC CHSL Exam: Who Can Apply?

Are you eyeing the Staff Selection Commission’s (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Exam for coveted roles like Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), or Data Entry Operator (DEO)? Here’s what you need to know about eligibility:

Eligibility Check:
1. Citizenship: To apply, you must be either:
(a) an Indian citizen,
(b) a Nepali subject,
(c) a Bhutanese subject,
(d) of Indian origin, having migrated from specified countries with the intention of settling in India. Candidates under (b), (c), (d), and (e) categories require a certificate of eligibility from the Indian Government.

2. Age Criteria: Your age should be between 18 and 27 years as of 01-08-2023. In other words, you should have been born between 02-08-1997 and 01-08-2006.

Relaxation in upper age limits for various categories:

Defence Personnel disabled in operation (SC/ST) 8 years

3. Educational Qualifications:

For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in specific ministries: Pass in 12th Standard in Science stream with Mathematics from a recognized Board or equivalent.

For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in specific departments): Pass in 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Candidates who have appeared for the 12th Standard exam can also apply, provided they attain the essential qualification by the cutoff date, i.e., 01-08-2024.

Note: Degrees/certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode must be recognized by relevant authorities for employment under the Central Government. Candidates should provide approval from the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission, for the relevant period during document verification.
