RRB NTPC Syllabus Details

What is RRB NTPC?
RRB NTPC stands for Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories. It is a job recruitment process for various posts like Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, and Senior Clerk cum Typist in Indian Railways.

Recruitment Stages 

The recruitment process includes the following steps:

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I)
  2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II)
  3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
  4. Typing Skill Test (TST)
  5. Document Verification (DV)

Syllabus for 1st Stage CBT

The first stage CBT will have questions that test your knowledge in different subjects. You will have 120 minutes to complete it. Remember, if you answer a question wrong, you will lose 1/3 of a mark.

  1. Mathematics:
    • Number System
    • Decimals and Fractions
    • Ratio and Proportions
    • Percentage
    • Simple Interest and Compound Interest
    • Geometry and Trigonometry
  2. General Intelligence and Reasoning:
    • Analogies
    • Number and Alphabet Series
    • Coding and Decoding
    • Venn Diagrams and Puzzles
    • Decision Making
  3. General Awareness:
    • Current Events (National and International)
    • Indian History and Culture
    • Geography of India and the World
    • Basic Computer Knowledge
    • Government Programs

Syllabus for 2nd Stage CBT

Candidates will be selected for the 2nd Stage CBT based on their performance in the 1st Stage CBT. You will again have 120 minutes to complete this test. The subjects remain the same as in the 1st Stage CBT.

Syllabus for Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

This test is only for those who want to become Station Masters. You must score a minimum T-Score of 42 marks to pass.

Syllabus for Typing Skill Test (TST)

This test is for the posts of Senior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Account Assistant cum Typist. You must type 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi. The typing test does not affect your overall score, but you need to pass it to qualify.

Syllabus for Document Verification (DV)

After all tests, candidates will be called for document verification based on their performance. If two candidates have the same score, the older candidate will be given preference.

Important Notes

  • Candidates must pass a medical fitness test.
  • Only the Railway Administrations will offer appointments based on the names recommended by the RRBs.
